I love the concept behind The Beauty Maze - an initiative set up by two ladies in Bath (Tina Gossage and Pauline Sinkins), who figured that if they were struggling to feel and look good about themselves as they got older, there must be countless other women out there in the same boat.

The Beauty Maze runs events where beauty retailers can meet groups of women, teach techniques, and show off their new products.

It might only be happening in one corner of England - but I can see real value for beauty brands in talking to these women and finding out what they need and want.

I came along to the inaugural meeting of The Beauty Maze not really knowing what to expect.

I was stuck in a rut with make up (or lack of it) and clothing, but found the prospect of discussing this with trendy, with-it women who knew what they were doing, very scary.

Nothing could have been further from the truth. Everyone who came to that meeting, and in fact all the meetings I've attended since, have been normal, down-to-earth women who just want a bit of guidance, including Pauline and Tina who run the show.

I've learnt a huge amount, had a great deal of fun, met some lovely women, and won a personal shopping experience at Debenhams with £250 to spend as well. What more could I want?

I would recommend The Beauty Maze to anyone who thinks they might need a bit of a change, or some new ideas, or just to have a chat about things they aren't sure about.

You won't regret it!!
