"Very useful sessions which certainly gave us food for thought"

“Having maintained my 7 pound loss for a few weeks, I am now on the final run to shift another 6 or 7 pounds and I am confident I will do it because I have found a programme that really works.”
“One thing I must stress with the Tony Ferguson diet is that you don’t have to live on shakes, soups and bars! I bought a supply of all the dietary products and still have lots left. I use them when I need to eg: if I have had an ‘eating’ weekend, I will have a shake and soup the next day and then, go back to my new style of eating. I do not eat potatoes, pasta and rice at all. I try to restrict myself to 4 slices of seeded bread per week. I do eat lentils occasionally (because I love them). I am amazed that I am not craving for jacket potatoes which were a main part of my pre-diet-diet!”
Now that I better understand how certain foods affect my whole being – energy, exercise, feeling well etc, I have changed some other areas in my diet. For example, I now bake cakes using Gluten-Free white blend flour and add Gluten-Free baking powder to make them rise. I make a wonderful Pea and Leek Risotto using wheat or barley, adding a scoop of low fat cream cheese at the end of cooking and then place a few large prawns on top – delicious!”
“Well, I think that is enough about my diet. However, if anyone is interested in considering the Tony Ferguson programme, I do recommend that you go and chat to Emma, Healthcare Consultant, at the Boots Bath store.”
“Here comes summer – enjoy.”

"Well, thank goodness I am human . . . because I fell off the rails a little!
"You know what it's like. Friends come to stay for the weekend and when they bring chocolates and wine, one has to be polite and indulge - plus, a few gin and tonics!
"Having a stock of Tony Ferguson soups in the cupboard, I ate these for lunch for 3 days and, to my amazement, I visited Emma (Healthcare Consultant) at Boots, Southgate, Bath, earlier last week and I had lost another 2lbs (7lbs in all) and my BMI is down too. I will not meet my 'one stone in six weeks' but I am really making this diet work for me because it suits my eating pattern.
"So, why is it working?
"I now realise that carbs are bad for me and I honestly do not miss potatoes, rice or pasta. Considering that carbs formed a large percentage of my food intake, this is a significant shift in my menu planning. I do eat around 4 slices of bread a week (always seeded) and I am not at all tempted to snack which clearly means that I am eating enough to satisfy my appetite. I have also given up caffeine, only drinking decaf coffee and lots of water. In fact, I had two cups of tea recently, within 10 minutes, and felt quite heady afterwards!
"A typical day for me is a bowl of cereal for breakfast; mackerel in olive oil on toast for lunch and steamed fish for dinner with LOTS of vegetables followed by low fat yogurt and fruit. I eat fruit during the day (a banana and some raspberries) and drink plenty of water. I should add that I attend a dance class twice a week and play badminton which is also helping my fitness.
"Well, until next time, enjoy Spring which is clearly raising its head with lots of eager shoots being tempted out in the sunshine. I am now going to make a Lemon Drizzle cake - and I will have a slice!

"I am sure many of you can relate to my situation. I am 63 and have tried a number of diets over recent years. So, having read about the Tony Ferguson Diet Programme, I decided 2011 was the year to shed that stubborn stone!
"Following a very informative discussion with a Tony Ferguson Healthcare Consultant, I signed up for the programme with the aim of shedding one stone in 6 weeks. I soon realised that this diet could work for me because it focuses on reducing carbohydrate intake - and I absolutely love carbs! (As a non-meat eater, they tend to be a big feature of my diet).
"I'm in my third week of the diet, have shed 5 lbs and my BMI has gone from 30.5 to 29.4. I will soon be introducing some carbs but am determined to eat jacket potatoes, as a treat, rather than an everyday accessory!
"My 'ideal' weight (5'5" - medium frame) is around 10st. 10lbs with a BMI between 18.5 and 25. I am size 14/16 and am aiming for the 12 stone mark as I don't want to invest in a new wardrobe and, most importantly, I do not want my face to sag!
"I am confident that I can menu plan to maintain my target weight and it is great to have the Tony Ferguson team on hand at Boots for any questions.
"NB : The Tony Ferguson Cook Book is great, with lots of really delicious recipes."
